NASA has a small budget, so much depend on private industry.
Famous quote: “Houston, we have a problem.”
The Wright Brothers – gas-powered airplane invention
Lacking innovation

Vasanth Prabakar 9:07 PM

Lee Wright 9:09 PM
Technology moves in “leaps and bounds”.
But not the space industry.
Moon visits…

Vasanth Prabakar 9:10 PM

Gerard Arbat 9:10 PM

Lee Wright 9:10 PM
We forgot about the moon once we touched it once. “Been there, done that.”
Space travel is expensive. Need some profit motive.
Robot exploration.
No “space race” now.
Depending on space tourists to fund space technology.
Space exploration would be a great way for Russia and US to work together.

1.Why Al Gore invented the internet?

Lee Wright 9:12 PM
Al Gore once said in a speech that HE invented the Internet.

me 9:13 PM

Lee Wright 9:14 PM
What is a what?
Silly computer game.
Pong was the first computer game.
New technology was used to play stupid kid’s games.

me 9:15 PM
3. Can you define “capitalist’s space race”

Lee Wright 9:16 PM
Disneyland in Space
Spend a night on the moon!

me 9:17 PM
Should we really invest on space programs? especially the ones searching for aliens?

Lee Wright 9:17 PM
Seaching for aliens? No.
Space exploration should be used for minerals, energy, colonization.
Velcro was a “space program” invention.
Incidental or serendipitous discoveries.

Vasanth Prabakar 9:20 PM
alternative for Zip

Lee Wright 9:20 PM
“Space pens”
Can write upside down, in zero gravity, on oil, on grease underwater

Vasanth Prabakar 9:20 PM

me 9:21 PM
Why don’t we use supersonic flights for transportation now?

Lee Wright 9:21 PM
“Mythbusters” TV show
Supersonic = faster than the speed of sound
Causes a sonic boom (noise) when it is first done.
Concord was supersonic.
Too expensive.
SST = supersonic transports
SST carries businessmen to Europe and US quickly. Business need.

Gerard Arbat 9:23 PM

Lee Wright 9:24 PM
A supply run from the Earth to the ISS is called a “milk run”. We’re spending millions just to deliver food.
Use Skype. Cheaper than Concorde.

me 9:25 PM

Lee Wright 9:27 PM
Hey, by accident I’ve discovered a new glue!

me 9:27 PM
Don’t you think that NASA, RosKosMos and others now do groundwork that will allow such a guy to be Captain Kirk

Lee Wright 9:27 PM
Star Trek.
The Captain Kirk.
The ultimate space admiral and ambassador.
Somewhat, yes.
Spacesuit design, space hazards and how to protect against them
Eyesight, brain memory, bone density are affected by living in space.
Lifespan is shortened by living in space.
We use technology for trivial uses.
Not imaginative.
We launch satellites for military, secretive
“Space junk” is a problem.
SpaceX is a private company that can do things much cheaper than NASA.
Right now, launching satellites is the only “business” in space.
Space garbage collection should be an international endeavor, but it is not.
$10 to 20 thousand per person
might be feasible

Vasanth Prabakar 9:36 PM

Lee Wright 9:36 PM
Problem is accidents are expensive!!!!!

Gerard Arbat 9:37 PM

Lee Wright 9:37 PM

Gerard Arbat 9:39 PM

Lee Wright 9:40 PM
SpaceX has a launchpad explosion that destroyed a multi-million satellite for a customer.

me 9:40 PM

Lee Wright 9:40 PM
Crowd- funding
Kickstarter projects
Not a simple task.

me 9:43 PM
Do we really need space program before settling down things on the earth

Lee Wright 9:44 PM
We need Colonization Rules.
Ideal but not possible.
Would delay colonization for a century.
Movie “Total Recall” , Mars protests against Earth control
What is an ideal “planetary government” model?

Gerard Arbat 9:48 PM

Lee Wright 9:49 PM
The EU took centuries to happen!
Asia against Europe against the West.
The “haves” and the “have-nots” are always going to be a problem.
Will we have spaceship battles in space later (country against country)?

me 9:51 PM
What did make us less-innovative in the aviation field?

Gerard Arbat 9:52 PM

Lee Wright 9:52 PM
What made us less innovative (IN o VAY tiv) in aviation?
Reaching the moon was politically motivated.
There was no good reason to spend that money just to plant a flag and leave.
Flying is expensive and uncomfortable.
I hate flying.

Vasanth Prabakar 9:53 PM

Lee Wright 9:53 PM
Where are our flying cars?
They had a lot of free time.
to think, to create…

me 9:54 PM
Do you think our process of innovation reduced in just one field?

Lee Wright 9:54 PM
I think less innovation today.

Vasanth Prabakar 9:55 PM

Lee Wright 9:55 PM
Profit requires “people appeal”.

Gerard Arbat 9:55 PM

2001 Space Odyssey

Vasanth Prabakar 9:57 PM

Lee Wright 9:58 PM
We keep trying to make cell phones better to please the masses in playing games, chatting, and doing trivial tasks.
Our technology is making people lazier rather than more skilled.

Vasanth Prabakar 9:59 PM

Lee Wright 9:59 PM
